Some relatives and close friends have implied recently and in the past that I and my fishin pals should have an intervention to curb our excessive(their words)fishing obsession.I think they are wrong.So what if we shirk yard and house work? Is it not a magnificent obsession?What matter the garbage doesn't get to the road because we might lose a cast at first light.Why they had the temerity to imply that I "had it bad" last summer when during the hottest week of the year I worked all night and fished all day 4times.What rubbish! So what if I totalled my new p.u.whilst daydreaming about Fraser Reds.Or the unfair pressure that was applied when I slipped at the slab,suffered a deep bone bruise to my leg and a separated shoulder.How unfair.Having healed,more or less the coho were on and I made more trips to the vedder.No more I should add than usual.On one such trip an older gent was playing a chum in fast rapids above me.He did not have the good sense to break it off so he was leaping from rock rock and headed right for me.I,being only too well aware how easily this can result in drowning obligingly jumped from my rock to another so he could get by.He lost the fish.I broke a bone in my hand and was in a cast for 5 weeks.Do you think I got any sympathy?Not a chance.Tackle control was somewhat impaired.
So I continue to fish but I am on the look-out for numbers of vehicles showing up unannounced in my driveway.I SHALL NEVER STOP!!!
