Where oh, Where can I spend my money in Washington??
« on: November 09, 2009, 07:46:12 AM »

I"m heading to Seattle tomorrow (down I-5) and find that I'm going to end up with a couple hours to kill between here and there - I've never shopped for fishing gear in Washington, can anyone steer me to any stores to go kick some gear 'tires' that's not TOO terribly far from the highway??

They have everything and it's just a neat store.

Just a few wks ago I asked Arima Boat Owners the same question & 2 people who live in Washington State said "sportco" was the place to go "HANDS DOWN" for selection prices & friendly service.  They have 2 stores & one of them is in Seattle. Forget where the other store is.

If you are looking for FlyFishing stuff, don't bother with Cabelas!!! the selection SUCKS!!

Other gear for fishing, GO to Cabelas, great selection on ALL KINDS of gear.

Cabelas is an hour and a half to two hours from Seattle.  Go downtown to Outdoor Emporium.  Look up outdoor emporium or Sportco on line.  This is where gear fishermen who know what to do go.  If you're looking for fly fishing stuff, go to Kaufman's or Orvis.

I would suggest stopping in at Dave's Sport in Linden. If you deal directly with Dave you're likely to get a good deal.

Wholesale Sports in Burlington is now Alberta Owned, great shop but slightly thin on fly gear, still better than anything in BC. right next the skagit bridge - you can even cast a fly next to their parking area.

Sportco in Fife.

AND the oldest flyshop in the West - Patricks! on eastlake drive near lake Union.

I second that, and even if you can't get Dave, you will still be saving money! I go there at least twice a month

Sportco in Fife (ask for Brian or John or anyone) and Outdoor Emporium which are same owners now. Yeagers in Bellingham is high. Warehouse in Burlington is good. Sportsman or Holiday SPorts is near McDonalds and I5 in Burlington and its high but lots of choices.  You guys spend too much for items. I have stuff for sale myself (Abu 5500 C4, rods, etc).  Sad that Bellingham North is limited. Monroe Sportsman show is something to look into. Cabelas is Ok and I've shopped the catalog for 20+ yrs.  Remember to tell them you are Canadian to avoid taxes.
