Just saw the coverage on TV, what a mass of humanity.

I guess it will be a traffic jam too, when it opens Tuesday. Glad I will be fishing in a isolated spot that day. ;D ;D

I was stuck in that mess for 1/2hr with my wife, right in front of the stage no could move, the dummies set up a stage, right in the middle of the bridge, leaving aproxx. 5 ft on either side for upwards of 50,000 people to move through, I gotta agree, you can tell Translink had their hand in that one, what a gong show.

30 days of free pasage then it's going to cost you a half sac to go over and back. :-\ Irks me to think we have to pay here yet the road to Whistler is free.

Yeah, I can under stand getting tolled on this bridge, but the new the Port Mann, thats ridiculous, yet with the massive amounts of money spent on Hwy99 lead to no tolls ??? ??? ???

well it was open to vehicles today. I drive from Port Coquitlam to basically the Airport taking Lougheed Hwy > Brunette > Columbia > Stewardson > SE Marine Drive. That drive normally takes me 1 hour and 15-30 minutes. Today it only took me 50min. There was virtually no traffic between PoCo and Brunette.

Apparently the passage is not free for many today.  I heard a radio report that there were tons of speeding tickets issued during the morning rush.

There was still alot of traffic from Maple Ridge to Poco. In fact I talked to people that said there was no change, just as much traffic. My wife took the bridge to work this morning and it took her 20min instead of 1hour. We will see how long it takes to get home. It is usually 1.5 hours(ferry) and 1 hour if she goes threw Abby then Mission to Maple Ridge. It was funny to see such light traffic on the bridge this morning, in fact it looked pretty bad.

Second day open - traffic appears to be lighter on the Mary Hill Bypass at 6am - taking the same route as always and I appear to be saving 5 minutes already!

All and all - once the new Pitt River bridge opens - the bottle necks will just move further along the traffic routes - it always does.
