Dying fly tying materials

Has anyone had any success dying feathers, hair, etc?  If so, how is this accomplished?

tho I've not done it myself...I have had it explained for hackle etc...I'll try to remember the destructions...:

wash and clean your materials in a gentle soap and luke warm water...after a good rinsing let the material dry...then get some koolaid in the color/s of choice( my friend actually mixes different colors to get the shades he wants ) and have at it...let the materials soak in the koolaid overnight then remove and rinse in cold water...let dry then store as usual...memory may have lost a detail...but it is close enuff that I'd do it if I needed a particular color..;))

Have used Rit dye with great success.
Just follow the directions on the package.
