took my first trip to whonnock lake this sun, i had my 8 month pregnant girlfriend and my 15 month old son with me so i couldnt dedicate too much time to exploring the lake or even fishing.I maybee fished for a hour,tried some power bait no success threw a few spoons out there with no success.I remembered there were crappie so my girlfriend got out the ultra lite and i put a jig on for her,right off the dock she had one take the jig and run but it spit it out before she could set the hook.No more crappie showed themselves so she was ready to go.So she loaded her and my son up in the car to go but i wasnt ready to leave witthout any fish caught so in a final shot of desperation i put on the good old trusty panther martin and second cast got into a nice 15'' rainbow that gave me  a good fight.T hen i was ready to go.I might add i got home and cleaned it then marinated it in garlic soy sauce and vinegar for a while the bbq'd it.It was delicious i devoured it all because nobody else here really likes fish.Ill be going back there asap sorry for no pics.        tight lines.

This is a nice lake to fish from a tube or boat(no propellers allowed)
tough from the dock but you can hook the odd trout and a few crappie
I got two crappie around 14in from there (on the fly)
If you hook one crappie keep trying the same spot as they group together
They like the weed cover though

Leeches too. I remember as a kid watching a friend of mine go to the concession to get salt to get the leech off.

shhhh it's a secret !  ohhh yeah , i got  some huge cutts today one  6lb and one 5lb .  all on drags off the weed beds .  later im off for a 7 week paid fishin trip!  TO THE BOO!!   BOOOHOOO im sad

no, I have heard of big cutties in that lake.

There are some larger cutties in that lake, I would imagine because lots of bait fish to eat and cutties I find like eating fish more than some strains of rainbows.

I could imagine cuttys can grow big in there, gobbling up all the Crappie fry and once big enough, adult crappies as well. The cutties on the Sunshine coast lakes grow to beastly sizes ( 15lbs+ ) feasting on sculpins and sticklebacks.
