They are definatley a sweet rod. Much lighter than the xp!

The Z-axis is a nice rod, that is well balanced between castability and fishability. It's got a smooth progressive action and will suit almost anyones needs providing you get the right weight and model that will match your purpose, and it better.........considering how much they are

Got a 10' 4wt for nymphing and boat fishing...a 10' 6wt as ditto and chironomid rod for interior fish, and a 12.5' 5wt spey for trout...Love um, like my scotts too but the z axis casts better then any other stick i've tried and has a really nice tip section that you can feel the lightest of taps with...

How is it possible to get lighter than the 3 11/16 Oz that my Sage XP 6wt 9"6" weighs? I was told that the Z-Axis was the replacement for the XP and I agree. Not a lot of difference between the two when I compared. Not sure on the price though as I paid a bundle for my XPs (over $800) 6-8 years ago.
