bear thread
« on: April 23, 2008, 08:30:53 PM »

Im thinking to help us all (bear hunters) why not start a thread where we can post when and where we are seeing bears. That way we all can help with knowing where to look.

Im heading to Ruby Creek by Hope on Saturday morning, i'll let you know what i see

Toquart bay road. See them pretty regularly. Two days ago had one that didn't want to go down the steep hill and stopped 5' off the road. Got out of the van, pretended to load the gun and pull the trigger. He didn't move. Probably won't survive the season.

I saw a bear in that area when I did have my gun and a tag and out "hunting bear" but not too keen on dealing with one by myself. I sat in my truck watching him for 3-4 minutes and he didn't move. Finally I told myself if I got out of the truck loaded the gun and you still don't move I will shoot you. Got out and he ran away. The bear was in a good spot about 20 feet up a slope right next to the road with a very shallow ditch that I could have backed right into but I really didn't want to have to gut and skin and get the damn greasy thing into the back of my truck so everything worked out for the best for the both of us :D

good luck...

i had no luck today, I tried American Creek rd, it had snow 6km up, Ruby Creek had snow just past the 7km mark. North Ainsle Rd also had snow 10km down, Nahatlatch was dead and not really that green, i saw one pile of crap. I tried the Koopi Rd that goes from Nahatlatch to Harrison Lake also...it has snow 2km down.

I know theres bears out but i dont think like they will be in 1-2 weeks time

Seems like its gonna be raining tomorrow, so my plans are cancelled and instead I'll hit the poco range. I've never seen many bears in the rain... Can anyone say different?
