Pink Worm

Want to try 1 more trip of the season for steelhead at the vedder. Was going to try the pink worm out for the first time... what do you guys prefer 4" or 6" worms?? even though clarity is pretty good, Ive heard most prefer the 6"???

A few days ago I talked to a friend who regularly fishes the Vedder and he told me that he has good results with a 4” pink worm attached to a Blue Fox #3 spinner with sliver blade.

I use smallest worm I can find for this clear water
3" works great.

Aren't these fish on their beds now?  Just wondering because most of the Washington Steelies are getting busy as I speak.

only the ones with back pockets.  besides, they don't measure in feet. they measure in fins.

Thanks for the reply... with the clear conditions sounds like a smaller offering might be best. Is it too late in the season? I thought that it was good until May?? dont want to fish if they are actively spawning

Ahhh... sounds good, Ive heard of a few fresh fish being caught in recent weeks... Ill give it a shot!

There are some spawning fish now, yes. Lots of the fish however are not spawning, last 2 days I have hooked a lot of chrome bullets and only 1 boot. Just try to avoid slower holding water and fish the faster/deeper riffles, especially in Clear conditions. Lately I have been hooking them on size 2 Colorados (silver), Roe sacs or free hanging roe, and shrimp. There are still fish you just have to find them, good luck!  ;)
