People doing goofy things to fish in pictures
« on: January 07, 2008, 05:06:39 PM »

After all that hubbub about that steelhead photo the other day I decided to let the cat out of the bag. Page 2 in the regs has this hoser doing the Vulcan death grip on some poor fish. :o

So don't go bashing beginners for something the "Envroment Minister" does right in the regs ;D

but it looks like a hatch fish so he might have bonked it which in that case it's his so do with it what he wants ;D but i could be wrong. and I'll  repeat what I said earlier. I have made mistakes of that sort in the past and I'm sure we have all had our bad moments and from what I've seen my experience was much worse but lets not go there ::) ;D

Hopefully that fine fellow and our upstanding leader Gordy catch a few fish, hold them like that for hero shots and then go for a nice long hike through bear country.

The slime on their jackets will draw bruins from miles away! OH! how I would miss those 2  :'(

all fingers accounted for, no blood, the fish is turning away from the body of Mr. GQ so I doubt its touching his coat and its not touching his thigh because his hand is there so it seems ok to me.

And it looks like water's dripping off the fish so probably a quick out and then back in.

What was he thinking.
He should have used a Boca grip and stretched the spline a little. ::)

Looks like a spring, so I highly doubt it needs to return to salt water. So if trouty is reffering to the earlier thread that has been locked.

I wonder why so many wild steelhead only return once. ???

Or is a picture worth 1000 fish?

Even though I've taken the odd fish out of the water to take the "hero" shot I've seen so many good pictures of fish  still in the water in this forum I don't think I'll do that anymore. After looking through my pics there is not one of them that would not look better without my smiling face in it and after all I know who caught the fish. Taking a fish out of the water after a long and tiring fight is much like you running a mile and then getting your face stuffed in a bucket of water for thirty seconds, I mean you'll live when you get released but it's sure got to be a traumatizing experience. It's one of those things where you have to do what you are comfortable with I guess.

Actually don't worry about that fish, that's a liberal politician holding it so it was probably dip netted out of a hatchery or off of it's spawning bed for the photo op.
