  What is the ruling on trolling a flat fish in a lake ? nothing in the regulations . If you are tossing mepps are they suppose to be single hooks . All flat fish are set up with 2 sets trebble hooks , if you want to release the fish after it has taken both hooks will it survive ?

You have to remove both those trebles and attach a single barbless hook.

oddjob: this is one of those tricky areas in the regs. You definitely cannot use treble hooks in streams, rivers or sloughs.  However, on page 8 of the 2007 regs, it says use of a treble hook is permitted unless single hook is specified.  So in fishing a lake, it looks like you have to lose that one extra set of treble hooks.  Better yet call up your local Fish and Wildlife office and talk it over with them and get their interpretation on the matter.

I've converted all my Flatfish to single hooks-it's easy.

A small split ring, then a small swivel then a good sized Siwash hook.

The action is the same and hookup rate is the same.
