It's worth a try. Also try around Admiralty Point there is a trough there about a quarter mile out where I have had success with Yellow Rockfish & Greenling.

to be honest i dont think theres many lings out there at this moment in time but you might catch the odd flounder by the sandy area around the bend there.

Flexing those guns and releasing a few Lings is all fun and games. But when you start eating crab from the inlet (or more like outlet) you shouldn't be covered by BC Medical. Coffin chasers.

Lots of big Lings around do to catch and release. Seem like a pretty hardy fish that can take being caught a few times.

When is the last time you checked stinky?

The deep cove dock has always been closed to fishing and I believe fishing was closed on the kates park dock as well.  Keep in mind that both kates and the west van dock were closed due to the wind storms last year.  When I was walking the sea wall a month ago, the dock at west van was still closed.  I do not know if the cates dock is also closed.

Just so all are aware, due to conservation concern, there is currently NO fishing (meaning you cannot specifically target, catch and release then claim it as a by-catch) for lingcod and rockfish in Area 13 to 19, 28 and 29. In-season openings may occur and will be announced in DFO's Fishery notice reports, I will also have these notices in the news section of the website. For greenling, the daily quota is three.

The non-salmon tidal species daily and possession quotas can be found on this page. You can find out more information on each species by going to this page. Please know how to identify a lingcod and a kelp greenling.

You should also be aware that as of February 1st, new rockfish conservation areas have been introduced where no recreational fishing activities are allowed. Please review the areas by going to this page.

Rod
Thanks for the reminder to check the regs on what's closed this year. I didn't get my tidal licence last year so haven't looked.
Lots of closed area's but they do allow for:

Permitted Fishing Within Rockfish Conservation Areas

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recreational

invertebrates by hand picking or dive
crab by trap
prawn by trap
smelt by gillnet
