KW Bridge solution...
« on: October 11, 2006, 04:13:46 PM »

Here's a solution:

Set up a big gong on the bar at KWB, and put a scale next to it, and have it sponsored by DFO. Everytime someone lands a fish, bring it up to the scale, and hit the gong for how ever big the fish is (10 lbs - 1 hit, 20 lbs - 2 hits, etc). Then have DFO issue a certificate with an attached "boot scale" (a %) with the weight of the fish and the anglers name. Then enter the name on a board and give out an award for the biggest beek at the end of the day determined through the following formula:

W x B / n = final score

W = Biggest fish weight
B = Biggest fish boot scale %
n = number of fish "landed" that day

Any thoughts ?

Anyways I would hate to be living close to that place.  :P

Might help to annoy people fihsing there and move them on home...but then again it could force them to other parts of the river, or cause people to take pride in killing a big boot... :-\

Have a picture taken of the proud fisherman and his boot and posted in Fred's Tackle Hall of Shame.

Oh boy, only you Spud. Although it would be halarious. I have another idea for the KWB. To start handing out name tags. You know like the ones that say "Hello my name is __________" but instead fill it in as "Hello my name is SNAGGER" and hand them out. Maybe this could get people to do otherwise. I dunno just a thought. But then again, nothing like snagging a chinook in the back is there ::)

The intense discussion we about this inspired me to post a thread about it...
Although a photo in Fred's might be coverted, which defeats the puspose...

I have a better solution....near the top of the pool, set a heavy cement block in the water just out of site of the beach side and string a solid stretch of winch rope under the surface so it's not visible, all the way across to the other side, feed it through a spike hidden in the bank on the other side, and then zig zag that rope back across to another cement block embedded in the bottom of the river about 3yds downstream of the first...repeat steps 1 and 2 continuosly until cooked!  ;D

remember the safeway buggy tossed from the bridge into the run ? alot of snaggers stopped there because everytime your drift goes by the buggy it snaggs especially when others have broken off with there braided lines .

An old bedspring mattress without the foam or cover would work even better ;D

A series of large boulders or stumps might be a better solution.

nah....they'd just get better at "drifting" through them...some logs would be excellent...and serve the dual purpose of providing habitat for fry...

A great big Douglas fir across the river will do the trick nicely.
