Sooke Sept. 23-24
« on: September 24, 2006, 09:15:59 PM »

Went out with my grandpa on saturday night and sunday morning. Staurday my grandpa and I landed a 12lbspring,10lbCoho,14lbCoho. Had one on today for about 15 seconds, then it disapeared. :'(
BEAutiful on the water!
Sorry no pics, forgot the camera! >:(
Oh ya, someone also got a 13lb Chum!
Guy thought he got a spring until closer inspection.
And man did those Coho ever run hard! Another buddy had two fish break his leaders! ??? Not sure if they weren't tied right, but they apparently hit super hard, as did ours.
All fish were cuaght between 80-100 feet! Deep.
Coho's mouths are really hooked too!
That will have been my last outing in Sooke this year and it produced quite well. Ended up with a 31lbspring,26lbspring,20lbspring,10Coho,12lbSpring,14lbCoho and a big ling! Now just have to get some river fish! ;D ;D ;D

Sounds like you had a great trip!  I've fished out of Ucluelet a few times but I've never made it to Sooke.  I'll have to get over there next year and check it out.  Were you fishing shore structures or were you out offshore?  Are you allowed to keep wild hohos there like in the Alberni channel?

You got that TRK. ;D
Ya it would be a great idea to make a trip there in August.
We were trolling a "zig-zag pattern in and out of shore to far out.
We hit all of the fish way off shore. Except for the big springs I hit earlier this summer in August. They were pretty close. I was also using a teaser head that was made a while back ;). And its pretty "krippled", if you get my drift :D. I was the only one in the park using it until I told my grandfather and he used it once and got two in a day so he used it the rest of the summer and ended up with 6 chinook!
