saw lots
« on: September 17, 2006, 07:39:57 PM »

ot to the river about 10 started at lickman campground side up top. probably 20 fish in the hole no bites lots of nice coho. then we walked down to the steelie hole wow what a change. saw another 10 hos nice size ones also  we didnt manage to hook any there either, just a foul hooked spring jack it was a tough fish today, i would imagine first light with a nice piece of candy would do the trick. anyways still good to be on the flow.

I dont know to much about fish and fishing, but some guy told me the fish wait at the mouth of the vedder for water levels to rise before they enter the system. Is this true? how long on average do these fish wait? ???

They do wait for the river to come up but they also come and go with the tide. they come in on the high tide and if there is not enough water then they can leave with the out going tide. They do this on the stave as well as dewdney slough. When the chehalis is low they stack up at the mouth of the chehalis as well. But even in low water conditions you would be surprised how many fish actually make it up the river.

I go to the mouth of chehalis sometimes on a boat, we launch at kilby, i was there 2 years ago and what a day of fishing that was, my arms were so tired from fish after fish i couldnt fight anymore fish i had to call it a day, when the fish stack up in there it can be insane fishing

WHAT are we waiting for? I'm in.. ;)
