Vedder Sept 10
« on: September 10, 2006, 04:54:44 PM »

Had a few spare hours to kayak out on the Vedder today. Alot sunnier and a bit too hot for my liking. Few more people fishing the lower river from shore and on boats but not many just after noon. Water was higher than yesterday which was good.

The low water and all the snags lower down where yesterday was hard to fish with a motorboat. Anyhow. by 30 minutes had the first one on.

Reeled in another scrappy coho jack

Which was promptly released. Last nights was delicious, but I hate slaughtering fish  :)(thought the next one would be bigger maybe) ;)
Tried to stay out of the solar furnace, trolling in whatever shade was around .Then headed back to go home and caught a little trout,at the confluence of the Sumas, which I let get off the hook without touching it.

Saw some about 5 lbs jump way down there.

Nice shots T.b.  I've debated on taking my watermaster up and running the lower for the heck of it..looks like the water is pretty decent for that...Do you see many other boats or pontoons out there? what are you using for bait? Many thanks,

I wasn't going to keep another one anyway, but when I look at the picture it looks like the adipose fin is still sort of there. Using differant spinners and small brass working the best and I mean small ;).To big and you can't troll over the shallower water, which is what you'll get right now. Fish were between sunken logs etc.  Lost a big one yesterday because the hook was so small. Beautifull day out there for the end of summer anyway.

Well, I didn't get a Coho landed today!!  Had a big Ho Break me off after I was to lazy to re-tie after pinching my main line with my pliers!! ::) ??? Anyhow, I was able to land this today!!  So I guess that sort of made up for it! :)

The New Sage worked wonderful, and man what a fight the 13 lber gave on the rod!!  It was a blast. ;D  The trick today was roe or a wool and roe combo!! :)

It is just what I expected!  A real sensitive suoer light Rod compared to the loomis.  I Liked the loomis a lot as well, but it was pretty much the same as the 3113, which I already have.  So having a bit lighter and more sensitive rod for the light biting Coho is nice. :)

Nice fish BS.  Was it a whitey?  How do those chrome whites turn out as far as table quality?

Last year, I hooked a number of springs on the fly and I kept 2 spring jacks that were chrome bars.  They were reds!

Took my little guy (Brody) for a drive today up to the chedder hatchery. There's about a Doz coho there, some summer boots, a few jacks and 1 whitey there already.

I can't waite for coho season. My favorite time of the year !!!! ;D ;D
