I guess you have to look at it as Mother Natures way of refreshing the forest .. that fire started naturally with a lightning strike, I hate it when you hear that a fire has been started because of human neglect...they say fires are good for the forest, so lets just hope it doesn't cause too much damage and eventually burns itself out... they are definately in dire need of some rain !!!!!

The "park" is nothing but bug killed forrest at this point anyway. It probably do it some good to burn up some. Otherwise next year the whole shebang will go up.

The fuel that the fire is burning into is dead already from an old pine beetle infestation...they knew it represented a fire hazard...it should have been logged as opposed to acting as a bridge allowing fire to quickly spread throughout a larger area.  I fought forest fires for 7 summers and I can tell you that standing dead wood is one of the worst fuel types available.

Bottom line is it is a natural part of the eco system and in time it will be a healthy forest again.

Scary part of this pine beetle problem is how widespread and out of control the problem has become in B.C.  The affected forests stretch all the way from Vanderhoof in the North, and  winds all the way down to Manning Park in the South. People in the logging industry concede they cannnot keep up with the cut, so I fear next year there could be some nasty forest fires in this province.

Pine beetle should be on the Provincial Coat of Arms, not some logger.
