Thompson?
« on: August 28, 2006, 09:20:42 PM »

Have travelled to try the trout on the Thompson just outside Spencers Bridge, what a beautiful area, fished and swam the water is sooo clear!  But trouble catching trout.  Was using my floating line with assortment of dry flys?  Lots of small fish but nothing big.  Any advice??  Also how is spin casting in the thompson, Colorado's work?  Give me some ideas, come on Chris?? ;)

Short float with good procured roe. 8 pound test leaders as if you happen to hook a chinook you want to break it off as soon as possible so not to stress it too much. In most cases it will free itself of the hook later.

Soon as we get our 4 jacks we pack it in, no catch and release. ;D ;D

Have never tried spinners but by reading Rodney's posts on his trip up there they do work.

Thanks, I will give it a try maybe on the weekend.  Does it get quite busy?  Can't you catch them throughout the river?

Not just any spinners, but Rodney's spinners. ;D ;D ;D The spoons also worked equally well.

Stimulators #4 2xlong (dry fly), Tom Thumb #6 (dry fly), Grasshopper #4 1xlong (dry fly) are the key for those 14 to 22 inch Bows
