Mono verses??
« on: August 26, 2006, 10:56:38 AM »

I use mono line for all my fishing and 'harvesting".  Is the threaded line a better choice?  Also interested in knowing what people use for sockeye as well as for coho in regard to line type and thickness.  Thanks.

I like Tuff XP for it's strength and thin diameter.

PowerPro 50lb Braid for sockeye harvesting. Maxima ultra green for drift fishing (with levelwind), Maxima Chameleon for drift fishing (with Centrepin), Trilene XL for spinning reels. Maxima Ultragreen for all leader material.

Well, for Sockeye, I am using 80 lb Tough line XP.  I bought this line for Sturgeon, I realize it my be a bit of over kill for Sockeye, but hey, I don't lose much of any gear and can get out of snags rather quickly.  So I feel that this is the best option for the Fraser Salmon fishery at this time of year!!  Just my opinion though. :)
For Coho, I have 2 reels spooled up, one with 12 lb test, which is the one I use most often, and one with 15 lb test for higher water with less clarity.  My main line and my leaders are Maxima Ultra Green.  I did try a couple other lines, but came back to the Ulta Green. ;)
