Why not rig a glo on a wire?

I have heard numerous stories of guys getting lazy, not checking their leader and losing fish because a glo spinning action chaffed the leader. 

So why not rig your glos on wire like some of the pretied ones at wal mart or where ever?  I make my own spinners and was thinking it would make sense to rig a big glo like you would a spinner...in a 2-3 inch wire with a eye and swivel?  What do you bar fishers think?
