spoons for springs
« on: July 28, 2006, 02:53:18 PM »

I usually target coho with spoons & other lures in sept. and oct. in the sumas, and chase trout with flies in still water the rest of the year. But I'm thinking about targeting springs with lures. Can anyone suggest where @when to go? THANKS

I've hooked jack springs on crocs in the Stave.  Big spoons like T-Spoons and Kitimats might work at some of the creek mouths in the fall for migrating Fraser springs.

I've caught many white springs drifting colarado blades in the vedder. I'm going to try that tomorrow for the red springs in the upper river  But your asking about spoons

;D, I find the springs like the silver better - Green stripe pretty nice.  Coho like the gold but in all honesty, they'll take pretty much whatevers in front of them if they are interested in the first place.

I have caught springs in the vedder on hardware, never tried the Fraser with metal though. I often target less well known rivers when chucking hardware at springs, often to very good results. Springs can be very aggresive!

All I can say is a blue fox #5 in the blue color.  Deadly on the Thompson.

Ive found lazy fishing gibbs coho's at the mouth of the harrison is about as effective as bar fishing.(keep in mind the mouth of the harrison is no longer good for this because of the fraser water going so far into the mouth, but the same consept can be used at any river mouth).

Theres no fish in the harrison I swear ;)
