Is BBQ (gas stove) allowed along side Fraser River banks?

I think that with the lack of rain over the past month there are CAMP FIRE bans in place in many forest districts but BBQs or little hibatchi type grills are not prohibitted. 

Camp fires throw sparks and can actually burn underground which is why you need to be so careful with them when the forrests are dry....use lots of water, dig them up and turn them over when you are finished.  After fighting forest fires for 7 seasons when I was younger, I can tell you that campfires lead to many wild fires in BC.

Yes. It is a comon sight on opening day of the Spring fishery at Spences Bridge; many have their BBQ on the back of their pickups.

From personal experience a couple of years ago on Herrling Island, charcoal BBQ's are NOT allowed during a fire ban. It was a shock to me too. >:( >:( >:(

One summer I was stationed at Haig Camp...its the fire base 200 yards east of the Scales/Scale Bar...our crew did a few patrols through campsite over long weekends educating and enforcing a "camp fire" ban...I am shocked that a charcoal BBQ got shut down...that sounds like an over zealous forestry employer or a fisheries guy who doens't know exactly what he is talking about  ;)

In most areas BBQ's using charcoal or brickets (sp ) are prohibited when there is a fire ban because when people are finishes they often just dump the ashes out and along with them the coals and there is a real source if ignition . Gas BBQ's are normally ok because they do not leave ashes or coals and are usually completely cooled out before people leave and are not a source of ignition .
