So its February and I was thinking of going steelhead fishing last weekend. I was out and about and decided to check my licence. No tag. On top of that my garage is a mess and my fishing stuff is buried. Havent fished since November. At first I was thinking the current licence expires in just over a month. No point in buying the tag and just get ready for stillwater season. Than after a post on Facebook that I made in regards to this I had some responses encouraging me to get it. I said screw it just clean up the garage and buy the tag. So after cleaning the garage last Sunday, yesterday I picked up my tag.
On to this morning. Got up and got ready. Heading out solo as my fishing buddies couldnt make it. I had no expectations as its been a while since I fishing. It would just be nice to get out there again. First run I see a fish move. Nice. Threw everything at it. No dice. Move on, and as I am driving to my next run I see cars parked at some of my favorite runs and skip that. Went to another location and yes, no vehicles. I work this run quite hard with a few different things and see no signs of fish. Ok time to put on my "squiggly" Second cast and BAM!!! FISH ON!!! It immediately makes a few jumps and shows its silver. I am pumped!! After a spirited battle it comes in. Nice beauty of about 6lbs.
So after two hours of fishing I get my first of the season. Glad I decided to buy the tag as this one fish is worth it alone. I fished down the run and hook up again but lose it. Missed one more than call it a day. So 2.5 hours of fishing for the first time in 3 months and I get into 3 fish. OK I got my mojo back!!!!
