Long Day on the Vedder
« on: February 01, 2006, 07:19:29 PM »

Wanted to fish the lower end. Got out of my car at 7:00 a.m. and almost lost my baseball cap due to gale force winds. Decided to go mid river and tried half a dozen different holes to no avail. 11:00 a.m. headed to the lower end after the winds died down and started to work around Peach Road area and down.  Still a bit windy but worked hard and ended up coming up with my first nice wild hen of the year.  Not much of a struggle - couple of minutes and she was on the shore for a quick picture and then back in the water.  All in all not a bad day.  Hopefully I can figure out how to upload the pic.

Good Job on the fish Baker Boy!!  The hooking part, not the landing part! ???  Never drag a wild fish up on shore for a pic!!!  This fish could die do to this if sand had gotten into the gills, or if it thrashed around on shore at all, without the support of the water , could have done some internal damage to the fish!!  If you don't have someone to help you in the future, well, you can still get a pic before you take the hook out, just have the camera ready, and take the pics as you are bringing the fish to the edge of shore!!  The fish should never leave the water for more then the 10 seconds or so it takes to hold the fish up for the pic.  Other then that, the fish should be in the water at all times.   Besides, what is more important, the fish or the pic??
