anyone here of 300,000 coho in the frazer???

Having a warehouse business i get to meet a lot of fellow golfers, fisherman, hunters etc. and get the scoop on what is going on up there...a guy came in today, (very credible guy) and said he has heard from three or four of his other fishing buddies that the DFO is saying that they are seeing NOW upwards of 300,000 coho's hitting the Frazier...Now the guy isn't a complete jack o and was very sincere in what he was saying, we gabbed about the vedder etc. and he was spot on on what he was saying about it...i asked if that was true were they hitting the rivers at all..they have to have been..he said he didn't know but that he was out on the stave this weekend and pulled in bright coho's with sea lice and saw a guy land a monster chum that was so chrome they thought he had landed a huge coho or silver...sea lice on it as well.....

Anyone heard anything about this???? i am such a sucker for these stories...( i almost got a "free puppy") :-[

my dad's buddy works for fisheries and oceans and said that all the coho are heading into the fraser now. they were just late.

me too..i think i'm going to try and talk my buddy into a day of "blast and cast"...head out real early for ducks then up to the vedder.....i may be nuts but i was up a couple weeks ago and had three strong hits..one was on and dancing for a few seconds..all with spoons..and all were silver..i was trying to talk my buddy into believing that they were steelhead but i'm thinking they may be late coho's..

Im calling DFO tomorrow when theyre open to get the skinny....I'll let you know if i remember!  I think their number down here is 604-666-0384.... only open until 4pm though.

Do you guys have any idea how many fish 300,000 is? Thats about 10X what the chilliwack river hatchery gets on a year.

I heard the same thing the other day from the guys at searun fly and tackle hopefully the reports are true,it would be a great new year to be fishing coho and steely in the system at the same time but i will believe it when i see it.
