Hailing from California and Ontario, you may not be aware that bass are considered to be invasive in BC.
https://bcinvasives.ca/invasives/largemouth-bass/https://bcinvasives.ca/invasives/smallmouth-bass/Others will disagree with me, but if you catch a bass I recommend killing it. Unfortunately both LMB and SMB are well established in the province and killing it is like fartin’ in a hurricane, but that’s just me. I’m somewhat tolerant of bass in bodies of water that are landlocked (ie Walmsley Lake in Albert Dyck Park) but in streams or sloughs I’m a bloodthirsty maniacal killer.
Having said that, check out the pond in front of Trinity Western University in Langley. Lots of bass. I’ve fished it a couple of times and caught small’sh ones on topwater lures. My son and his buddies have caught some tanks on spinnerbaits.
Given the proximity of the pond to the Salmon River, several years ago the university partnered with the Ministry to do an electroshocking cull of non-native fish. So, if you want to cull the ones you catch, you’ll be in good company.😀
