Can't hid behind your handle anymore

A precedent setting case was tried recently, with Google being forced to reveal the e-mail address and therefore identity of an anonymous poster that was defaming a Model.

I've always wondered why people hid behind their handles on forums like these. Where I work we sign/initial anything we do so that if there is a mistake we are the ones accountable. On the same token that is why I post using my real name.

I have never hidden. Its pretty simple for authorities to get someone these days on the internet.

Ha ;D. That's ironic aint it JL? I don't think I would use my first and last name on a forum. But this story just reminds us all that big bro is always watching and once you post something on the internet. its public forever.

Yes. Ask Rodney to change your handle if you'd like. It wont change your account name but will change what shows up when you post.

Nothing wrong with having a forum handle that is not your real name, as it is one of many fun features of discussion forums. You just need to conduct yourself in a respectfully manner when posting as if you were talking to someone in person. Most people follow this general rule, only a couple of people once in awhile choose to abuse the freedom.
