Rivers start to set drought record

although the Fraser is quite high right now other rivers such as the Stave, Chilliwack and Coquihalla are very low for this time of year because of low snow packs  :(

Wow, this could have a bad effect on the Cultus sockeye and other salmon that are coming up through the Vedder River, if we dont get the rain we need!

Don't worry too much about those fish just yet. They don't enter the vedder until october and most spawn in december. Lots of rain by then  :P

Don't Cultus Lake sockeye come up earlier than that? ie. August, when discharge is at its lowest in the entire year. It'll be interesting to see how the red spring fishing is like this season. People need to avoid hooking these sockeye in August, ie. not catch and release. Fish selectively.

Nope, the sockeye in the river at that time of year are destined for tributaries of chilliwack lake. The only cultas lake sockeye I have ever seen was on dec. 4th  :o

Nothing to worry about because there is nothing you can do about it, as long as were not taking much water from them of course.
