today I bought the minnkota maxxum 33# from canadian tire for 299 plus tax, we put it on our 10' fiberglass pram and trolled around for at least 4hrs straight and there was still lots of charge left on the battery. we were thinking of getting the 40# model but the 33 pound has plenty of push for our needs.

How much, if any wind/chop was there?
I am currently trying to decide between the 40 and 50 for an inflatable.

Maxxum works well in salt.  The only part that shows some rust is the tightening screws.  Not something major WD40 won't take care of.  Other then that. No problem.

PS Itosh, my sister and I took our Fish'n Hunt out from Saturna 2 years ago, with 1/2 knot current we still managed.  We were using 55.

What charger did you guys buy for your battery (brand, amps, etc)?  How long does it take to recharge it?

Hi guys,
I bought Sea Eagle 9, 11' inflatable (not yet delivered) and I'm also wondering if I should get a Minn Kota .
I have no idea about these motors and how fast they are.
Are they only for trolling speeds and how fast can they go?
Would probably like to have something that's reasonably fast to get from one point to another.
The boat is only about 40lbs and can carry a load or 1200 lbs.
On smaller lakes I like to rowibut if electric motors are fast enough I'd probably go out on Alouette and Harrison lake.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thx
