Hard game to watch if your a Lions fan.
Lions punt & then Lions punt & then Lions punt again so forth...
They just could not march down the field & get pts.
Have some offence & get at least field goal trys.
Penalties giving Bombers 1st down when they were about to punt.
Intercepts...
Lions woke up at the end but the clock ran out. ( Winnipeg defense eased up because they were so far ahead & little time left.  )
Jennings most times had no time to set up so he should of called more fast hitters ( quick short passes )
He threw some short passes but they were not quick hitters.
Throw a short pass after 3-4 seconds & the receiver will be tackled on the spot.
Throw a quick hitter 1-2 secs from the snap & receiver can run on an angle away from the newest tackler thus get at least 5-8 yds.
Get 7 yds on quick hitters & this will out up the running game or a medium or long pass downfield.
If the defense are getting to the QB then he has to get rid of the ball faster.

I'm glad the Lions lost even though I'm a long time season ticket holder. Their missing the playoffs (first time in 21 years) and dwindling crowd is the only way management will realize that meaningful changes need to be made. I'm tired of the same old same old that Buono and his coaching staff trot out every year. What worked 10 years ago isn't working today.

One major problem I see is when Jennings goes back to pass he needs 4 secs to back drop set up ,allow his receivers to run their 20-25 yd routes ( they seem to want to throw 15-25 yds most times ) & then throw the ball.
Problem is he is not getting that protection needed.
He's getting 2.5 secs & then he either has to run backwards or sideways & then he has to throw in an unbalanced position.
Maybe they should go back & watch the film on their wins at the beginning of the season & see what their offensive calls were.
But if the D is on Jennings in 2.5 secs - 3.5 secs he just cannot stand in the pocket & wait for longer routes to be run.  Quick hitters / runs & after lots of short completions surprise the D with a long bomb streak down the sidelines....
They have to do something.
On the edge to miss the play offs & 21 yrs ( as you mentioned ) being in the play offs...who would of thought that. The west has lots of good teams.
Adam Bighill is that his name? Gone to the USA provided lots of spark to past Lions teams
He's missed.
A guy with lots of Ra Ra Ra in the dressing rm. & on the field always helps.
Team looks emotionally flat.
Even the Canucks lose to Flames who played 3 games in 4 nights. Two of the games on the road.
Some Lion players open their mouth before the game & predict they will win. ( only fuels the opposing team ) ok to say that we are ready & practised hard. & we will try our best to win the game is ok...but trash talking by saying " we are going to win this game " works against one 's own team.
Ok for a fan to get cocky with predictions but not good for players to do it.

Stamps lose at home to energized SK Riders.
The Stamps looked like they had 50 lb sacks strapped to their backs.
Listless.
Riders on the other hand played great.
Weather was windy rainy / mix of snow in the rain at times. Looked like the Stamps just would rather of been at home sitting next to a warm fire. They have 1st place locked up & guess it was a hard game to get motivated by.
In the West Final they will be ready. Something game.
Weather could be a factor in the coming weeks.

Riders' win eliminated the Lions from playoff contention. First time in 21 years. Now the Lions can play the guys on the practice roster and see what they can do.

BC Lions looked like they were going to get a rare W but again they blow the lead in the late goings.
Mind you in the dome with perfect weather & field conditions the Esk offence just looked so good when they needed to be.
QB gets his needed protection, the 4-5 recievers ran great routes & caught the ball even when they were covered.
The timing between QB & reciever & with good ball placement & good hands all adds up yo marching the ball downfield for 1st downs & TDs.
Lions just again did not give the QB protection.
Thought Lions would get the W & they nearly did.
Both teams played hard but honestly the Lions need a better offensive line & better DBs.

Even when the Lions had a 12 point lead I didn't think the Lions would hold on and they didn't. They were in a soft zone coverage and Mike Reilly took advantage.

Agreed. Thought the Lions got soft on defense when they had a 16 pts lead & clock ticking.
But it all fell apart.
A perfectly placed pass & DB coverage on this play was near perfect.
Happened with 4 minutes to go on long bomb to Walker at the sidelines. Out at the 1 yd line I think it was.
Then they go down again & throw a 20 yd ( ?) pass to Bowman.
Then they get the 2 pt conversion to tie up the game.
In OT Esk again get the score on a pass to ( is his name Watson ? anyways another tall reciever like clones of Walker / Bowman ...tall fast good hands runs good routes ) Lions last chance & Jennings rushed the throw because he was going to be sacked. Ball thrown short of the target / game over.
Lions just were so good early in the season & then average in the middle & then terrible in the final 1/3 of the season.
Must be frustrating for GM coach Wally B players fans...
Like something like Ottawa losing so many close games.

Was reading a story on the Lions  ( The Province. ) & it stated that as of this time the Lions have more passing yds than the Stamps. Surprise Surprise
Stamps in 1st place.
Lions in last place.
Article stated that 5-6 Lion losses were by 7 or less pts.
Win or lose it is still a good drama.
Times kinda change as W or L the players from both teams stay on the field & have friendly conversations  / smiles / laughter.
Sportsmanship.
Teams from the past ( 1960s for example ) had that imagine sweat, long hair, cigar, many piling on late tackles, & from what I remember players from opposing teams did not talk much to each other before or after the game. They were like street gangs ha.
Are the Lions going to win 1 or 2 of their last games?
Now that they have no pressure of making the play offs maybe the early season Lions will show up.
Plus players want to have good games to impress the coaches. ( job security )
But maybe all coaches jobs are over after the season.

Classical example of stats are for losers. The only stat that really matters is the number of wins.

Ottawa vs Hamilton
Game on Friday was so so enjoyable. Lead changes & drama right to the end.
Any of the 6 teams making the play offs can win the a Grey Cup this year.
Toronto least favourite.
Some about TO  ;D
Argos / leaves down down down ...

BC Lions looked very good on offence. Maybe the cold weather wakes these guys up abit more.
If so we need ice packs put on the back of their necks when they are on the sidelines next year. ;D
Crazy though as Winnipeg still were in it with 6 minutes to go with their 2nd & 3rd string QBs running the show. Harris knocked out after a big hit.
LaFavre or how ever his name is spelt just could not throw properly with cold hands. His passes were like lame ducks. How they kept him in there is beyond me???
Winnipeg kicked a lot of 3 pt field goals & fortunately the Bombers did not capitalize with majors.
Jennings & receivers had better timing & more  confidence.
O line even was better.
Lions win what do you know.

Jennings looked like the past Jennings.
The whole team looked fired up.
Maybe they are thinking that they have only one game left ( Toronto. ) & we get to go home for many months ( till next Spring ) & see our loved ones again & do their own thing.
Kinda like school kids in June.
