Was at Deer Lake yesterday in a boat.  Saw literally hundreds and hundreds of very small bass in the shallows.  Sometimes would have a dozen following in my lure in at once.

All fish I caught and saw were 4" or less.

You just have to tell the security guard ur fishing he always fine with us fishing the lake.
Appreciate the info, but I, and hopefully everyone else won't go to fish it as an influx of people going there would cause issues to stop the fishing for the few that do go there and ask nicely. Cheers though!

That small hey? Well I was using 6-10 inch soft plastics, maybe that's why I was hooking the bigger ones. Saw a little kid, maybe 4 years old, with his dad catching small bass and sunfish off the dock on worms and a bobber, kid looked like he was having a blast.

If you learn how to bass fish, and care to catch larger fish, you will.  Casting in around the shallows with small baits in highly visible areas will net you small fish.

The larger ones bully the small fish into less desirable areas on the lake which are more prone to predation from birds, people etc.

Find drop offs/depth changes and structure and you will find larger bass.

(not to say that you can't sight fish for larger bass in shallow, very visible areas, most typically during the spawning season)

Oh, I'll see about that, sir. YouTube will make me a bass pro by Thursday and I'll be sure to buy a $300 fish finder before I head out and slay them drop offs and structure. I'll get back to you by Friday :)   Lol

Well think about it, its hot and the bass want cover. Pads and matted grass is exactly what they want and where they sit, no matter how hot it is. Fish weedless baits and throw it into the thickest of grass and pads and you will get fish. Texas rigs will punch through and present food to fish sitting in the grass. No matter how thick the grass is, bass will bust through it to eat a bait. Don't be afraid to go big.
