sorry to derail the thread but Sterling, isnt it a 4 year cycle for sockeye? so last years run wouldve entered in 2005? sorry if im wrong

The amount of time that juvenile chum and sockeye salmon spend in streams before entering the ocean are different.

thanks for the heads up on the regs guys!! i dont retain chum anyways but i saw someone on the river with one in a plastic bag today and made sure he was aware! thanks

Thnks for keeping people honest about no retention of chum.  The closing of chum is a bad sign for the future - However I still have hopes to be able to take my kids up to the river to teach em how to fish when they get older some day.

Saw a guy keep a chum today   I've noticed there's very few chums compared to last year, where I'd be hooking em left right and center. Thought it was due to the water level being less then ideal

What's the scoop on the closing of chum?  Last I heard, the DFO was going to reevaluate and make a decision on Thursday (Oct 27th - I believe) whether or not to continue with the closure until 12/31/2010 or open it up again. Just curious what the regs are these days.
