Thanks for the great read as usual Chris.  I never buy barbless hooks for flies anymore, I always pinch them down myself.  I guess it's sort of cheating in a way as it does leave the tiniest hint of a nub on it but they seem to slide out just as easily on release so I haven't second guessed it yet.  I lose a few more fish with factory barbless hooks, thats for sure.

Try The Gamakatsu finess hooks in a Size 1/0 or 2/0 havent lost a fish yet on them. The smaller sizes from #4-#1 bend out but the 1/0's hold really well.
