Sturgeon Fishing Lower Fraser
« on: March 13, 2005, 04:06:14 PM »

Fished the lower Fraser around the Port Mann bridge. Douglas Island to Barnstrom Island and the surrounding area. Not alot going on in this area. But I did get checked for the first time ever on the Fraser by three Conservation Officers, they checked my license and to see if I had barbed Hooks. The one guy was very friendly the other appeared to be taking his job way to seriously and had a real attitude they also asked to see our life jackets. Of course we checked out in all aspects good to finally see them around but this is pretty much low season kinda silly to be out now . The fishing appeared to be real slow where we were but it was more less a picnic day out there with the wife and dog . I did manage to fish for about two hours not even one tap. We were using Dew Worms.

Just got back from sturgeon fishing on the Fraser with three friends. We launched at Mission at around 1:30pm and fished our way down river, finishing at the Queenship Marine Shop down river from the Stave at around 5:30pm. Fished a total of 4 holes.
We were fishing with last years Eulicans, dew worms, and chum roe. We had three rods out.
My buddy landed a 2 1/2 fter at the down river end of the island across the river from Queenship on dew worms in 35 ft of water. I landed a very small 1 1/2 fter on the Queenship side of the island on an Eulican in 40 ft of water. All in all, very slow for action. The guys comming in to the launch as we were going out also reported very poor action.
Funny you mentioned the CO check you encountered Legend. As we were launching, three RCMP officers were boating around the launch area in a Zodiac boat. They did not check us, or others we saw arriving to the launch. They may have been a little embarrassed about dumping their boat on the launch off of their trailer, due to un-hooking it a little too early, and hitting the brakes prematurely. ;D
Beautiful day on the water, the sun was beaming. Hopefully the fishing picks up.

Randog, was that you with a couple of buddies at the dock? I don't remember the boat colour.  I was bringing some gear down to the dock with my buddy, and Christian and his bud came over with the boat to grab us. I had a six pack of Sleemans on the dock, you may have noticed that. ;D Sunny weather=thirsty fisherman. ;D
