Fishing Report Feb. 8
« on: February 08, 2005, 04:40:17 PM »

Woke up this morning sore all over, particularly my knees and thighs. Must be my cardio workout last night. Remind myself to take easy tomorrow. Debated whether I should take advantage of the is wonderful weather and spend it on the local flow. That debate lasted a nanosecond ! After a leisurely lunch and some stretching exercise hit the road out of the city. Surprised to see the number of cars still heading into the city as I'm heading the other way. Got me thinking how much it cost to go to work. Clothes, lunch, transportation, parking, coffees, snacks, etc, etc.

Decided to fish the lower section today to take advantage of the afternoon high tide. Upon my arrival I was shocked to find lots of joggers and walkers. Decided to forego this place and head up to where I was yesterday. Opted to start with a homemade rubber worm. Had one hit in the tailout but missed it. After flogging that run for 1/2 hour with nothing to show for it, I headed down to the run where I usually do quite well. Flogged it again for 1/2 hour with roe bags with no success. There was a heron standing on the opposite bank hoping to catch its dinner. Unfortunately, his success ratio was the same as mine. Overall, a very nice day. Air temperature was 8 degrees Celsius, water was 4 degrees. Water in perfect condition, down approximately 6 inches from yesterday. Water clarity about 2 1/2 feet.

Went fishing with my buddy today who brought along with him wife as our photographer. Fished up and down this section of the river for about 4 hours and was able to hook into wild beautiful chromer of about a 12lb. Took a couple of quick pictures and returned her to the river. It was quite cold in the morning but got better around 11:00am. Overall, not a bad day when you land a fish and have your buddies with you. Did not see anything else caught.
