After a leisurely lunch with my dad, I loaded my fishing vest and my trusty Sage 2106 into my truck in hopes of catching some fresh fish for dinner tonight. As I was driving leisurely out of town I was in a very relaxed state of mind listening a piano sonota on CBC radio 2. I had to chuckle at the office workers scurrying around during their lunch hour. Pretty soon they'll be back in their offices trying to meet unrealistic deadlines imposed upon them by their unreasonable bosses. Ah yes, deadlines, office politics is but a distant memory for me as I don't have to work today. As I drove by a number of service stations I was astonished at the price of 91.1 per litre. Made a mental note to fill up later this week when the price drops.
Arrived at my first fishing hole to find it all to myself. After a 10 minute hike I was all rigged and ready to start. Damn I forgot my roe bags were in the back of my truck. Wasted 20 minutes hiking back to my truck. River is a bit high for my liking but definitely fishable. Air temperature in the shade was 9 degrees Celsius. Water temperature was 4 degrees. I was enjoying the serenity of my surroundings when my float took a bit of a dip towards the tailout. This happened several times but missed them all. Perhaps it was small trout pecking at the roe bags. After covering this pool for 1/2 hour I hiked further downstream to the Pooh Pool. Unfortunately success did not follow me. Nevertheless I had a good time enjoying the outdoors. The only sign of life was a helicopter flying around and a couple of hikers.
No fish dinner for me tonight. Like all good fisherman I have a contingency plan. I'm having chili calamari tonight
