on the hunt for a jet boat
« on: March 09, 2021, 10:46:19 AM »

Hi all,
with new job, new house etc, I had to re-register to get back on this site,
I sold my boat before we moved several years ago and now hoping to get back on the river, however with a jet.
Nothing too big, 16-18 feet, in-board preferred, budget around $25000.  At this point brand is irrelevant.  I live in Mission so hoping all can keep an  :o eye out for me.
'appreciate the help.

check kijiji  and craigslist regularly to find something. to be honest you wont find much these days in that price range. boats are going for a premium, the market is insane. a lot of the cheaper end boats will have merc sportjets which are discontinued and i would be leery about purchasing one knowing parts could be unavailable at any moment. i think you will have to spend more like 35-40 to find anything if not more unless you go to an outboard jet which will be much less

At the start of this year I bought a 19’ north river commander 5.0L American turbine pump with 300 hours from Oregon. After all the dust settles and the cost of the windlass install I was just under $30k Canadian.
It was the first time I’ve ever bought something without physically seeing it first, but had built up a pretty good relationship with the seller. Definitely has to be some trust there, or wait until the border opens.
It seems from my experience after 18-19’ the boat costs around $5k more per foot of length.
I can give you the contact of the broker I used if you decide to go this route. Even if the border does open a broker is so much easier for a couple hundred dollars.

I've been watching craigslist for these boats for months, and the listings seemed to peak about 2-3 months ago, now once again there is virtually no inventory, so the tight demand is making prices ridiculous. Three Rivers Marine in Woodinville seems to have a few boats on consignment that would fit your bill. https://www.3riversmarine.com/search/inventory/usage/Used

I had a friend looking for a jet boat. He went and looked at two and both sold for more than the asking price after multiple people viewed it. Boat market is almost as crazy as the housing market currently.
