Horse Lake, BC
« on: June 19, 2016, 08:09:19 PM »

Hey dudes & dudettes,

I'm heading to Horse Lake in the 100 Mile House area at the end of July for a few days. Will be staying at Cariboo Bonanza - really looking forward to staying there and fishing the lake. Will be mainly trolling hardware for the most part for Kokanee and Lakers (and Rainbows if they'll bite). Just wondering if you have any input you care to share for the time of year, etc? I've heard talking to Bruno is a good idea.  I have gang trolls with Dick Nites, mini-flashers with small pink hootchies, spoons, a few plugs, etc.  Thanks!

--It can get windy as with many lakes. Drifting with the wind is often enough speed when trolling for kokanee.

Bruno will give you all the info you need. That guy is a mad man.

There's a good spot out a bit from the resort if youre targeting lakers. Look for shallow water markers in about the middle of the lake and fish the drop offs from there.  Might be too late for this but there are also some nice bows and lakers in close to shore north of bonanza near a rough unused boat ramp close the the end of the houses that line the shore.

Tight lines!

I spent a whole summer there while working in 100 mile house several yrs ago. I found June to be the best month to fish there. I had excellent dry fly fishing the evening hatch after work. When the lake water temps heated up in July/August the fishing got slow. The only action was trolling deep for lakers, getting down to the colder water. Nice to hear Bruno and Dora still run the lodge. Wonderful people.
