Thompson River, August 4th - 6th 2014

After another very successful corn sale in Lytton it was then time to spend some time looking for jack chinooks. With the opening of the sockeye activity in the Fraser Valley on Wednesday it is always time for me to head to the peacefull surrounding of Gold Country and leave the Fraser for those that like to TOW for sockeye. Of course I never want to take a fish that has made the choice to actually to take my offering.

It was just great there and the scenery is just spectacular and watching First Nation people dip netting is always interesting, a fishery they have done for centuries in this area, they certainly work for their fish there in the sweltering heat. The jacks had not shown up yet and I was blanked but the sockeye were there in large numbers which was good to see. Of course the sockeye do not seem to bite which is fine as they are not open for retention. If it was it would be nice to have some to can, maybe when I venture back to the Fraser to bar fish one or two will take to liking my spinning glow.

I will hope jacks come in later when i make the next trip to this lovely part of British Columbia..
