Hit one of the beaches today, not much around just some cutties chasing fry
I tried a bunch of flies but could not get them to hit

I would really like to try this but will most likely try spin casting some tiny rubber jigs.

Are July/August both good months for beach fisheries?

All depends on the beach. On the beach I fish, they are available from April to Sept. Other beaches can produce in mid winter or well into the fall.

Going to Parksville on the 3rd week of August. Would beach fishing for coho be very good there at that time? Would fishing mouths of the rivers be a good spot to catch them?

No coho, practically a guarantee unless you get really lucky.
Pinks will be showing up in decent numbers by then.
Chinook MAY be getting in close enough by then as well, but I doubt it.

Rivers mouths always a good bet, I find out there low tide is best because it's easier to reach the fish.

I normally start beach fishing for Chinook 2nd week september till 3rd or 4th week.
Coho generally start 3rd or 4th week sept and can go well into november, but I generally fish rivers during that time anyways.

Fishing flounder and cabezon can be really good out that way.
Can also hit cutties too if you're lucky.
