Tidal Fraser River, October 17th 2010
« on: October 17, 2010, 07:24:17 PM »

No trophy coho salmon to report today, but the variety of fish caught was a good substitute. The afternoon started out with a cutthroat trout, followed by a bull trout that was long line released. A few casts later, a bigger bull trout was fooled by the spinner, then I tailed a hatchery marked coho salmon for a lucky lady. It was about 5lb. I then landed a very nice coho jack, probably just under 2lb. It had an adipose fin, so back to the river it went after a photo. This was followed by a northern pikeminnow. A few other coho jacks were hooked, but mostly lost, by others.

Water clarity is great. The half a dozen or so people fishing around us were very nice. It was just a relaxing fishing outing.

Make sure you don't park your car at this spot if you know where it is, city by-law officers will for sure be ticketing people if they park their cars there.

Yes I noticed the no parking signs last time I was there. Need to find a nearby street to park.

nice fish Rod! I was out yesterday and managed to get my first ever bull trout.  What an aggressive fish - it took a 1/4oz orange spoon that I was using to target coho.  Water clarity is amazing right now.  Saw lots of risers.  I'm going to get out there as often as possible over the next couple of weeks and take advantage of this great water visibility.  Some days I wish I had you're job Rodney!
