An experiment with Berkley Gulp
« on: March 23, 2010, 10:35:40 PM »

Have recently been wondering how effective rubber minnow baits would be for sea run cutts off the beach. Feelin' the urge to mix it up a little... Was at Cabella's in Lacey, Wa. over the weekend and came across some Berkley Gulp saltwater 3" baitfish, and on sale to boot. My gosh, they look sexy. They are a dead ringer for the needlefish/sandlance that are a popular forage fish for my little sea run friends. Now I'm not about to pack in the spoons yet, but I'm gonna give these little suckers a serious soaking over the next 6-7 months. In the late summer/early fall the coho are feeding on the needlefish too, so who knows...

Will report back later on the success of my field trials.

BTW, if you haven't paid a visit to Cabella's in Lacey, you really outta make a point of it. Even if you aren't in shopping mode, it is quite an experience.
