Annacis Island, April 7th 2009
« on: April 07, 2009, 07:23:05 PM »

Went out after work. Managed to find one Bull Trout with the old fly rod. Quite a surprise. Cast out not very far 3 to 4 meters. Was keeping the rod tip up and letting the wind swing the fly and kept it just below the surface.

This was the best break from being stuck in the traffic trying to get over the Alex Fraser Bridge.

Was the for the tide change. Visibility ranges from 1 foot to about 3 feet.
Saw a fair number of Chum fry swim past.

For where this is it's quite surprisingly clean. Not much litter.

Hopefully I can get out tomorrow. I'm afraid if the weatherman's predictions for the weekend might mess it up.

Very nice. We did ok further downstream too. ;)

I might put together a report later on for our outing.

Was that the 'one' you said you had caught ? Nice fish !!

I had my wife and boy in tow , didn't want to disturb you guys as you looked pretty focused. I just decided to yell from afar !

Oh ya that was you. I can't see that far (or can't see clearly that far) otherwise would have been chattier. ;) No that wasn't the one I caught, mine was obviously much bigger than Mark's 19 incher.

Mark's fish was caught at 7:00pm, when the surface feeding has been happening lately.

Interesting about how where you are feeding gets going that late. With the tide and currents the viability is just not good enough.....May have to head home via the tunnel instead ;)

One thing if anyone is thinking of heading out.
It's tidal here - need a tidal license.
As well once at home you should rinse out your reel, the flies you used, and wipe down your rod.
