I think it's time to go do some fly fishing for trout on my local lake...

Might be a wise decision until the chum and springs start to spawn in river and that combined with some rain will get the coho to start biting. That has been my experience in the past. Even though the salmon do not actively feed once they reach their natal river once eggs start floating about it certainly improves things for those of us that fish in a manner that attempt to make a fish bite.

Out for a tour of the river today and sweeping in full swing by a high percentage of the people out there.

They were packed in like sardines at KWB this morning, my rod stayed a home today, hiding in the house. ;D

Chum and chinook moving out of a run over the shallows, continuing their journey upstream towards the hatchery.

Rodney may be proud I did this by myself, sort of. ;D ;D

Hi Chris,

It was nice to meet you on Friday. I was the guy with the blue hat with Steve's group (not with the sweepers at the pool!). Our group of 4 didn't get any cohos either but we released lots of chums and springs. The highlight of my day was releasing a 30lb+ chrome spring which gave me a great fight.

Hope to see you on the river again.

Thanks for the post and was good to meet you all as well as to see some fellow short floaters at the run. ;D The sweepers there certainly spoiled the outing as they continued to tie up the run time in and time out by fighting so many snagged fish. :(

Yes it rarely happens but the fish were so thick in this run on Friday it will happen the odd time. The spring was hooked right at the hinge part of the mouth. In most cases I can tell when a fish is foul hooked, when it is not inside the mouth, just by the way it is fighting.
