Vedder Report Feb. 26
« on: February 26, 2006, 05:16:04 PM »

Well this is my first post on this board but I have been lurking for some time, I can't stop reading Chris's daily fishing reports.
Anyway started this morning at Lickman Rd. and worked my way down to around Bergman Rd..  The river is low enough so I was able to wade and fish both sides of the river.  I tried roe bags, prawn tails and jensen eggs with no luck.  :'( I did see and hear of a few hatchery fish taken in the morning.  Weather was overcast with no snow/rain today but there was 2-3" of snow on the ground from last night.

I did however have the pleasure of meeting Chris G. this morning and introduced myself.  I believe he said he was into a couple but I'm sure he will post a report.  Again, Chris it was nice meeting you and thanks for your fishing reports.  I can only get out on the weekends so it is nice to hear how the fishing is.  It is a little painful though, as I am usually at work when the fishing is good.

Later in the day I fished from the crossing up to the On The Way Store.  No fish hooked but something did steal my roe bag in one nice spot.  Tried and tried but couldn't get the float to go down again >:(.  That was the only action for me today.

Tight lines

Ian

Good to meet you too Ian and as well Brian who picked up a nice fish just above me. He said he was going to post as well, hoping to see the picture of the steelhead. Thanks for the offer of the Chief hockey tickets, Brian but I am tied up that evening.

Some good reports tonight so I do not have to write the journal, ;D besides bedtime as tomorrow should be a good fishing day if the rain holds off.

I got out for  short trip this morning and 3 anglers ahead of me. Just as I started to walk to the run I saw a fish being released.

My first chance was when i was looking away and looked up just in time to see Maple Leaf Drennan #3 surfacing again. :( The prawn tail was all chomped up. The fish did not give me a second opportunity.

A little while later another take down in a different spot, I was on the bite this time but no contact, this fish learned its lesson well and once again no second chance.

A while later right were Steelieman likes to stand, ;D on the far bank I am given another opportunity, this time I have a fish on, ;D for all of 5 seconds before it falls off  :'( just as my pulse rate had begun to quicken. Land hook ratio now at 25 for 34, I believe "The Master" is approaching 50 to the beach. ;D ;D.

I have no more chances before I leave for church nd only see a Dolly landed besides the mentioned fish caught by Brian.

I slip out for an hour at dark but no action. Ran into Pete from Fred's Custom Tackle and he missed one. He also said only about 4 weighed in a the shop today.

Tomorrow the start of another week on the flow, hope the rain stays away.
