Seabird Island Sept.8th
« on: September 09, 2005, 10:55:04 AM »

A friend and I started out at Pegleg around 10am and found it to be not to busy. Fishermen standing about 25ft apart. After about 2 hours of watching pinks landed by others my buddy lands a big soceye so we carefully let go. We both thought the water runs to fast through there, so we decided to go to Seabird for a different pace.
We fished with the shore to ourselves for some time unsuccessfully before three people came right beside us and three minutes later they were pulling in pink after pink, it was crazy.  :'( We didn't have anything and these guys pull up beside us and they where on fire... I'm not sure how many they kept but we had some suspicions. Anyways, we did manage to catch a couple more soceyes and released them making us feel a little better about our skills as sport fishermen. Suddenly, I have a fish "on" feels like a small pink at the beginning and as I started reeling it in it went crazy. I fought it for some time back and forth (testing the drag on my reel) and finally I landed a beautiful 16lb spring.  :) It was as silver/chrome as if it was pulled from the sea. then my buddy pulled in a nice silver pink. by this time it was getting dark so we happily left for home before 8pm.
It was my first spring this season...  ;D a great day for the catfish.

They can have the pinks. I can go to Save On and buy em for 3 bucks each.

Nope! As far as I know, I was the only one to land a spring at that spot on that day.

I have pictures but I don't know how to add them in this forum. Not a simple cut & paste?
