I carry two rods with me when fishing the Vedder.  For hardware use a 9ft Loomis gl2 8-12 lbs baitcasting rod with a calcutta 250.  It easily fits in the back of my complete angler vest when I am not using it (also keeps others from standing too close to me  ;D ;D ;D). I use hardware mostly at first light and in certain holes.  Most of the time I float fish with roe with my CP set up.

But where do you put your pin rod when you are tossing hardware with the 9 footer? ;)

If I am wading out,  the pin rod also goes in the back of my vest and I get even more room!! ;D ;D ;D

Doug's got the right idea. A rod can be easily stuck horizontally across the back pocket of a standard river vest such as a Complete Angler or Fernhill vest. I have sewn on a rod strapping system on to the back of my river vest with some velcro and nylon webbing material, which holds the rod vertically. This allows me to carry either my 3pc, 10'6" drift rod or my 2pc, 6'6" spinning rod on my back ;). I sometimes strap a flyrod to my back aswell.

So do you multi-rodders keep reels on your extra setup on your back with the line already through the guides for a quick changeup?  Or when you decide to switch up do you find a spot to sit down and enjoy the scenery while changing gears?
