Headed out for the first time since late April.  First lesson I learned is that it's a good plan to make sure any prawns left over from Steelhead fishing are taken out of your vest before you put the vest in the closet.

River is really high, higher that I ever saw it during Coho season.  Tamahi Bridge has had side barricades installed and is now only one lane.  There's traffic lights controlling the flow each way.

Because of the high water we decided to start at the top end and work our way down.  Not many fishers out and the few there were fishing for "Rainbows".  I still believe most of those bows they're killing are steelhead on their way to ocean.  Most of the year there seem to be very few trout in that river system so I don't understand where a big population would suddenly come from other than the hatchery.

Fished or checked out several places along the river above Vedder Crossing and no red springers to be found.  Excellent day though!!

Bingo Morty   The Province/DFO likes to call them them smolts but in fact because they were released so small they probably won't migrate.  They do make great merganser food though.
