at least in the vedder the guys dont hold the fish in their mouth  ;)
and chris is right pegleg is quit similair to the vedder

Brilliant  ;D Thats a good one, and it was once the vedder in salmon season but it seems as if steelhead seasons almost as bad now :'(

Only because the weather has been balmy and the fish plentiful.
Wait till things get back to seasonal and 80 percent of those currently fishing will stay home.

Want a real steelheading experience?
Try the Squamish, but remember the bait ban.

Hmmmm.... In the Man vs Wild video, the guy was being rather dramatic in eating his salmon.
I wonder if he really forgot about the hunting knife he used to cut up his wooden spear.
Or was he really that hungry?  ;)

Yes Milo, I fish fly almost exclusively and the water on the Squamish is something else. I could fish that river hapily without getting into a fish, but some steel would be a welcome surprise. Beautiful place and quiet too.

I don't know about this particular shot, but I can offer some insight from firsthand experience in the old country.

In certain years with heavy rains, some very productive rivers flood the fields. As the water recedes, many fish end up trapped in ponds like the one in the picture. Regulations mandate that they must be caught with fishing tackle, not scooped with nets or hands. Hence, you end up with a bunch of guys with anywhere from one to three rods each 'fishing' around a small pond full of fish. And yes, there are some really big ones in there.
As the pond almost dries out, the uncaught fish is usually just hooked (snagged) and taken out. Unless of course, COs decide to give them a lift back to their home river which is now hundreds of yards away.

It's a meat fishery, not much different from the sockeye flossfest.

If you go to the seafood section at T&T Supermarket, you can see the same chaos just before dinnertime. ;)
