Chase / Thompson River
« on: September 07, 2009, 11:33:12 PM »

I'm heading up to Chase for a golf weekend and the house we're staying at is smack on the river.  I believe it's called the little Shushwap?  I can see the Pine St bridge from the back deck.  Checked the regs and it's good to fish.  Can someone give me some direction on flies to use?  Evening hatches?

Thanks!

--as salmon in and spawning I'd use single egg patterns.
--good trout and whitefish in chase will be after the salmon eggs and given the cold rainy weather lately may be better than dry fly.
--lots of shore area to fish.. check regs including inland salmon regs for which areas are open and closed, locals should know.
--be careful wading in the river as "reds" are deep and may be close to shore. you step in one of these holes and your up to your neck in a hurry.
--several of the local golfers fish so you should be able to get some first hand info on the course and fit in early morning and evening fishing.
