« on: October 22, 2008, 10:22:44 PM »

some times i feel that there is a lot of politics between fisherman or in the sport in general?  why? or is it just me. I love to fish and learn about the sport. dont love politics.

does this make sense? your thought are appreciated.

There is no doubt that politics enter the picture with regards to the management of fish stocks. A finite resource divided between various user groups such as commercial fishermen, sports fishermen, First Nations, often times to the determent of fish stocks.

It's just not politicians and government departments. Even fishing clubs and associations can turn political. I've been on several committees and seen this first hand and it really takes the enjoyment away from being a member.

Ya, I wonder if the Prime Minister was ever a sports fisherman.  Remember when he first got elected a few years ago, and had some casual meeting with George W. , the press gave him so much flack for how he dressed witch included a fly fishing type vest.  You'd think if he was a fisherman that more would be done on enforcement and conservation.
